Meet
The Host

Host: John Burgess, seen here not knowing what to do with his hands.

John Burgess

Hello,

This is my first podcast, and it probably shows. I’m hoping to continue the project through the myriad of armored fighting vehicles found throughout the Second World War and beyond!

A self-taught autodidact and relentless reader of all things old and new– my depth of historical knowledge spends most of its time drowning in books from bygone eras. Everything from the Aztec Empire, through to the Horn of Africa, into the courts of the Holy Roman Empire, from the Castles of Ludwig II, to the shores of Elephant Island with Shackleton, and everything in between. I’m probably most fascinated with the more modern history of the last few hundred years and how the through lines of geopolitics and intrigue have landed us into and out of all the conflicts and messes we modern humans find ourselves in.

If you love tanks like I do, or even just like them a little bit– I’ve got a mind to give you a bit of, or more likely a lot of information on them. We’ll be digging in to all sorts of minutia, from drawing boards to combat tables– if you’re interested, tuck on in and let’s get to it!
